Steve Fangman

Steve is a technology guy with roots in Nebraska (yes, he’s a Husker) and has three boys. None of them ride…yet. Steve has been road racing for only three years, so watch out for him in a pace line. Somehow, he reach Cat 3, probably because the ACA extended points accumulation last year. Steve prefers hill climbs and road races over those crazy criteriums.

Eric Jensen

My wife and I went to CU in the 1987-1994 range and chased a career around the country. We wisely gave that up with no real plan and moved back to Colorado (yes, Georgia is that bad), and after a couple of lighting industry jobs I now work for myself in a consulting role for one major customer with 2-3 as time and need permits. Yes, I probably do spend more time during the day on a bike or a trail than working, the way it should be!

I road ride 150-200 miles a week and went back to running during the winter and on non-bike days. I finally started racing in 2012 and it has been fun. The big goal for 2012 is a strong shwoing in the Steamboat Springs Stage Race. I plan to race cross starting Fall 2012. I have in the past raised a lot of moeny for the Davis Phinney Foundation related to the Copper Triangle. My mom has Parkinson’s and trust me that it sucks. I’m not sure how that pans out this year; if you’re interested, contact me on Twitter.

I have 3 favorite rides: Long = Lafayette, Lyons, Ward, Boulder, home. Mid = melt some pavement Lafayette to Lyons and probably stop for coffee at Barking Dog. Short = Lafayette to Superior, Morgul Bismark out to 93, then turn around and hammer the hills in reverse.

Recent Results (noting I’m 43)
Haystack TT – 9th Cat5 = 17th 35+/4 or 45+/4 (not bad for my 2nd TT)
Lousiville Criterium – 10th (first crit ever)
Frostbite TT – 15th in the miserably gusty wind

Jon Maule (“The Legendary Murdersteal”)

Lee Gerakos

Lee races SM3 road/cyclocross and sport mountain bike. He has been racing on and off for the past ten years. Starting out as a mountain biker that preferred endurance races, Lee transitioned to road and cyclocross preferring to just get out the door and go riding. Not to mention it’s a lot easier to do with work and a family.

Favorite rides include Lafayette to Carter Lake, Flagstaff mountain, and the dirt roads in unincorporated Boulder county.

2012 Results:

  • 9th Place Boulder Roubaix
  • 10th Place Mead Roubaix
  • 10th Place Koppenburg

Adam Gordon

Adam started out road riding in the mid 90′s ultimately joining the CU Cycling Team while attending Graduate School at CU Boulder.  After graduating he continued to road race until he discovered the sport of triathlon while going to race in which his sister was competing.  From that moment on he was hooked.  After many years of racing, he completed his first Ironman race in 2009 but the many years of racing longer distance triathlons robbed him of his speed so in 2010, he focused on Olympic distance and shorter and wound up having the best racing season of his career.  In early 2011 he discovered he had a torn medial meniscus in both knees which would require surgery.  He had surgery on his right knee in the fall of 2011 and will have surgery on his left in early/mid 2012.  Recovery from the second surgery, as with the first, should be short and he is looking forward to returning to being able to run and race again.

His goals for the remainder of the year include recovering from surgery, starting to run again, and spouse-willing, purchasing a new mountain bike to take full advantage of the local trail systems.

Adam’s favorite ride is a clockwise loop up Flagstaff to Gross Reservoir, over to Coal Creek Canyon, West to Peak-to-Peak Highway via Wondervue and Pinecliffe, North into Nederland and back to Boulder via Boulder Canyon.  The 20-mile descent back into Boulder provides for a nice recovery and relief from the brutal climbing over the first 30 miles.

Kirk Groves

Kirk started out riding and racing in the early 90s but was away from
the sport for many years. He started riding again while
rehabilitating a knee surgery injury several years ago. His current
racing emphasis is cyclocross but you might find him in a triathlon or
out on his road bike. His 2012 goal is consistent top-20 finishes in
cyclocross. His favorite road ride on the road is the loop up
Lefthand Canyon to the Peak to Peak Highway and then down South St
Vrain Canyon through Lyons. His favorite off-road ride is Walker
Ranch.

Tim James

My primary focus is racing cyclocross. My goal the past few years has been to improve my road and mountain racing in order to become a more complete cross rider. This year I am competing in a few endurance MTB events, some of the Winter Park series, with a few road races sprinkled in to work on speed. I will likely travel to Madison in January 2013 for CX Nats again this year, and will be hoping for some hard pack snow and ice to race on, a condition I’ve found nets me the best results. Currently cat 2 MTB, cat 4 road, cat 3 CX.

Best results are:

  • 2009 15th CX Nats 50-54 Bend, OR
  • 2010 16th CX Nats 50-54 Bend, OR

  • 2012 19th CX Nats 50-54 Madison, WI

Peter Schimpf

Peter is a professor at Metropolitan State College of Denver and the father of two kids. He has been racing for 6 years, exclusively on the road. While he loves long and difficult road races, he’s at his best in time trials.

Ciro Zarate

Hi There my friend, my name is Ciro Zarate.  I’m from Tehuacan pue, Mex and currently live in Avon CO.  My favorite kind of bike racing is CX.  I love it.  But my forte is the really cold muddy and snowy races, where to finish you have to be tough.  I like to race road as well, but spring classics and flat crits are my thing. I hate hill climbs. I also race mountain bikes in my home town.

    To whom it may concern,
My name is Aaron Jeffrey and I’m currently a Cat 2 living in northern Co and I’m looking for a team to join up with. I race both masters and 2,1 races and I don’t care which group of guys I race with, I enjoy both. I usually race 30 races or so a year and would love a good team to race with. I’m a little behind the ball on this but would love some consideration for your team and I would be a great asset for you guys. Thanks

    • Hey Aaron,

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Our site has been going through a number of transitions. We’ll contact you offline.

      Thanks – foxtrot
